June 23 WHAT HAVE YOU REALLY GOT? LIFE...OR 'STUFF'? I'd like for each of you to ask yourself what you'd be willing to give up to have eternal life in Heaven, or if you'd be willing to give up eternal life in Heaven to hold on to all of the things...your stuff...that you have right now. A young man once got very upset with Jesus when told he should give away everything he owned, sell all his stuff, and give away what he made from the sale to the poor. It was the only way, Jesus told him, that he'd be allowed to go with Him. The boy pouted and stomped off. Some of us feel that way now. We claim to want to go with Jesus...but we are looking back at our stuff as though we want to ask Him, 'can't I just bring this? Or just that...just that too...ok, this is the last thing' But it never is. We hate the idea of not having 'stuff'. Even stuff we don't need, which is most of it. Some of it we've never known what to do with, but it's ours and we want to keep it. So what would you do if someone came up to you today and told you, point blank, that it doesn't matter how often you go to church, or how long you've been going to church, or how much you do at church, or how much you give at church. The only way you could get into Heaven is to give up ALL your stuff. Today. You'd even get the added bonus of being allowed to live another fifty years. Right now most of you are thinking things I probably shouldn't hear! What if someone had told you what was going to happen to your life ahead of time? What it would take to get all that stuff ? What it would take to keep all that stuff once you had it? I'll tell you. You drag out of bed and off to school every morning for years and years so you can learn how to get it. Of course, education used to be for the sake of knowledge, but we all know enough now to see that's not the case anymore. Now, we go to school and send our kids to school so that they can learn how to get a job, where to find a job, how to get the best job making the most money so they can get stuff we never had enough money to get. But back to my point. You finish school, get that wonderful job, make the money to get the stuff. So now, all you have to do is worry about keeping it, replacing it, repairing it, or losing it. You get ready for bed every night, but before you can lay down to sleep you have to check on it, clean it, adjust it, or secure it. If it's not all the way paid for, or you have to pay to use it, you lose more time that you should be asleep thinking about that too. When you drag up out of the bed in the morning...still tired from all the time you spent the night before awake... you have to check it again, to be sure it's still there, because you never know, right? Then you spend an hour or two trying to wake up, wash up, eat up, and hurry up, yelling at and threatening anybody who's holding you up, keeping you from spending you day's pay driving around to drop people off at school and other jobs, before you finally race along to your own job, where you spend all day trying to get people to believe you're good enough to do it all over again the next day, and the day after that. You do this day after day, making plans, moving things around to accommodate your self, your wants, your stuff. Then one day you wake up, and you realize that the few years you had to spend down here are almost over, and you start wondering what happens when they are over, and there's no more stuff to get. You've got six different kinds of illnesses, aches, issues, and problems with your body. You're on five different kinds of medicine that keep the doctors happily grabbing at that money you worried so much about making all your life. And you realize that you've actually missed life. Missed it all. Now you notice those people who don't have a lot, but are healthy. Those people everybody labeled lazy for not spending sixteen hours of every day away from their kids and loved ones, who are able to laugh, and sing, and have fun just knowing that they are alive. Now all the things you hear at Church start to make sense. Focus on God and not on worldly things, because the things of the world, including your body, will pass away. Is it too late to change? Of course not. As long as you still draw breath you can call on God to change your perspective and teach you what's really important. But why wait until you've had to do it the hard way? Jesus said that to gain the world is to lose your life. So who's to say that you'll get to that old age where you can look back and regret not having paid attention? If you died tomorrow, what would the record show had been more important to you? Keeping your stuff in this life, or laying down all that weight so you could run with Jesus? Look at it this way. If you were drowning, would you want someone to throw you a car or a floating tire? You ARE drowning Saints. Trust me on that. You've gone overboard in the sea of life in the middle of a raging storm, you're in the water, and you're hollering for somebody to throw you a car, a house, a pair of shoes, a tv, a box of stuff. Jesus...is reaching out his hand saying 'take it. I'll get you out...just leave that stuff and take my hand and I'll save you!' And while the waves are knocking you all over the place and the water keeps crashing over your head and going down your throat cutting off your air, you're using every ounce of strength you've got to hold on to your stuff. And you're going to die if you don't let it go. With Him right there, with all the power in the world to save you, you're going to die...because you want to. If you can't see that all this stuff is temporary, if you've let it all become so important to you that not even getting saved from dying is more important, if you've let the Devil trick you into believing that the only way to do it is to grab hold of your stuff...your friends, your jobs, your money, your house, your electronics, your popularity, your this and your that...and keep holding on to it no matter what anyone says... Then you've chosen, and you'll be left here for the Devil to do what he wants to do with you. And you'll die. Because you can't take anything from this world into Heaven. It's all dirt. All games played in the Dark. All lies, all deception. Don't believe it? Ask yourself where any of it will be in a thousand years. Dirt. But the soul doesn't die, and it's got to go somewhere when the body goes where the rest of this stuff is going. Where is yours going? Will you make it out of the raging storm? Or sink with your stuff? You tell me. Minister LP Johnson Circle of Light Ministries For Prayer... prayerwarrior68@yahoo.com VISIT "THE CIRCLE INSIDER" THE WEB-JOURNAL FOR THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY! Here is a word for which explanation is unnecessary for most of us. For those who do, it generally means using something which is superficial at best to 'go away' from more important matters. An example would be the housewife who is so attached to the Soaps that she hasn't gotten any of her real life work done - because the people on the screen and their dramas and riches and 'action' allow her to 'escape' the reality of her family's financial situation. Or perhaps the elder widower who gardens obsessively - not because it is HIS passion, but because it was his late wife's, and he misses her so much this allows him to focus on her rather than his pain. Some 'Gamers' - those who play video games to a point some deem too much - have known this label as well. There are, obviously, many, many forms of 'Escapism'. Some of them are generally benign - just needing a little time away from it all - as in reading. Unfortunately, there is a point when 'needing to get away' becomes something else. A point at which for some - yes, even among the Saved - the escape turns out to be a trap. One which has proven difficult and at times nearly deadly to 'escape' from. Addiction. Another word that speaks for itself. What came to the minds of most of you just then was an association with; A. Drugs. B. Alcohol. C. Sex. And these are likely the most common, or at least the ones most of us hear about or experience within our 'world'. But as any recovery counselor - or Minister - can tell you, there are as many forms of 'addiction' as there are reasons to want to 'escape'. On the physical level, this can and usually does lead to a variety of life trials. A downward spiral that often ends with loss - of friends, of family, of marriages, of work, of Self. And sometimes of life itself. Like an animal trapped in a hunter's snare, desperation is usually what leads to the determination to break free. But what happens then is what determines success or failure. Recovery, true recovery, often depends upon having in place a support system for not only the physical Self but the Spiritual Self as well. A multi-tiered network of those who listen to you, those who talk to you, those who counsel you, those who push you, those who encourage you, those who pray for - and with - you, those who yell at you, those who cry with you, those who care. Where to find such people? Our guest today is going to share with us some information about just that. Who's IN THE SPOTLIGHT; Celebrate Recovery I'm Speaking With....Nora Q. A little background; Tell us a little about yourself. Where you were born and grew up, something of your childhood. Are you married and where you're living now. Any children? A. I was born in Jessup, Maryland. I grew up in Odenton, a small town near Ft. Meade. My child hood was not reflective of my adult life! The mistakes I made as a teen and later as an adult can only be traced back to my own poor judgement and the choices I made. I have the most wonderful mother in the world. She's always been very supportive of me and spent her life making sure that our needs were met. She was fun and loving. I am the only girl and the youngest of three. I have been married twice, both times to alcoholics. I have three children, each having a different father. I started doing drugs and having sex at age 14. I wanted to be a part of something! I wanted to be accepted by the crowd. I was always looking for a place to belong. Even though I had a very loving and secure home, it didn't quite fill the emptiness I felt. My father was not in the home and I believe that is why I used the sex for men's attention. I spent years in this pattern of behavior before God showed me what was missing. All this time, I was missing HIM. After years of drug abuse, unhappy relationships, dealing drugs, doing jail time, near death experiences, and loss of self, God came over me one night and I could feel Him all around me, it was like nothing I've ever felt before and I can't even explain how awesome it was. He said it was time to follow Him. At that moment I knew He was what I had been missing and searching for all those lonely, messed up years. At that moment He removed my desire to use drugs, and the need for a relationship. I could have a relationship with Him. He wouldn't ever hurt me and He would always be there for me. And He has and is. Q. How did You become involved with 'Celebrate Recovery'? A. I started attending a church in Md. called North Arundel Church. This place was amazing! These people were Christians, but they were bikers, and recovering addicts. And they were wonderful. I felt accepted there. I soon found out that they had a program called Celebrate Recovery. I went there until we moved in August of last year. When I told the leader of "CR" that I was moving, she found a "CR" here in SC for me. I was in contact with the leader here before I had even moved. Q. Is this a rehabilitation program, a church organization, or something of both? A. This is a Christian based recovery program. We focus on Jesus Christ and recovery through Him. ***The floor, so to speak, is open for you, tell us about this program, why it's something you recommend and what they're doing. Is it just for those who have been addicted to drugs or alcohol?*** A. "CR" is not just for chemical addictions. It is for ALL "hurts, hang ups and habits. It's for the person who has been abused or is being abused. It's for those that are living with addicts. It's for the co-dependent, people with food issues, anger issues, fear or control issues. It is for everyone and everything. It's about letting Jesus heal you and remove all your character defects. It's about living again. We have a 12 step program, but it is Bible based. Our ONLY higher power is Jesus Christ. We have open share groups for men and women, where you can share your struggles and your victories with other men or women who will share with you and pray for you. ( other men and women who are or have been going through what you are going through right now) One on one prayer is also available before and after the meetings. "CR" is "like Vegas" so to speak! What's said there stays there! Confidentiality is a must. We form accountability partners and teams, friends who are there for us, to listen to pray and to hold us accountable for our actions and lack of actions. It's a wonderful program. I'd also like to add that there is also a program for teens w/in "CR". It is called "Life hurts God heals". It is for teens who are either living in a home with family members that have issues or teens that are having issues themselves. Q. I've noticed mention of several upcoming Studies, Conferences and Seminars. Tell us something about that. Will it only be in one place, or can our readers expect a visit to a city near them? A. We are having a conference here in May. Our church will be hosting it. They have different types of things going on all over the US and Canada. I have not been to one yet, this may will be my first. I know that they do a lot with training new leaders at these seminars. The main campus for "CR" is Saddleback Church in California. But there are many branches of this core "CR". Different "CR" locations will have different things going on. Q. How does one connect? Share with us any links please. A. The best thing to do is to look up Celebrate Recovery. Type the name into the keyword and it will take you to the site. From there you can maneuver through the site and see what it's all about. You can also find out where there is a "CR" near you. (Editor's Note: Entering "Celebrate Recovery" into the 'search' will provide a list of the various Cities in which this Program may be found. To access the Home Site of Celebrate Recovery, copy and paste this link -- http://www.celebraterecovery.com/ ...) FINAL NOTES: Thank you, again, for taking the time to share with us your own incredible testimony, and the information of a service which is so desperately needed by so many. It is our prayer that God continue to be able to use you as a vessel, and may you continue to be blessed and be a blessing as you have been for us here today. We gratefully welcome you to 'The Circle!' March 17 INTERVIEWING 'THE CHURCH MUSICIAN' - RAY V. JACKSON OUT OF THE PEWS AND INTO THE COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW Music is a Ministry all in itself. Many of us, however, have become accustomed to listening to it performed with technical instruments and find it somewhat intriguing when we come upon an actual group of Artists who are doing it the old way - with real instruments rather than recorded sound. Except,
perhaps, those of us who are blessed to belong to a church where the
choir still sings with an organist or pianist, and perhaps an
accompanying drummer. Add a few other musicians - strings, horns, conga
drum perhaps, and you've icing on the spiritual cake. Well
readers, today my guest is the leader of just such a group of talented
musicians. They play together, for an actual Church, and I'll tell you;
personally, your editor usually has preferred 'get up and dance for the
Lord' music...but this group has recorded one of the sweetest,
smoothest, most relaxing compilations of Gospel music I have heard in
quite some time. Who are they? Where to hear? Let's find out. Who he is: Mr. Ray V. Jackson Brother Jackson, first let me thank you for taking a few minutes with us to share this. So we'll begin with the basics. Q. Tell
us something about your life outside of music...your family, your wife,
your parents, where you were born and grew up, and where you are living
now. A.
I was born here in Montgomery, Al. to then Rev. J. Leon and Sister H.M
Jackson, the second of 4 surviving children, 3 sons and one daughter.
I went to school here in Montgomery, moved away to the "big city: after
High School, and moved back home to settle down and raise a family. I
am currently living here with my Bride of 24 glorious years. We have
seven children, six sons and one daughter who is the youngest, she is
22 years old. Q. How long have you been Saved? A.
I feel like I was born saved.... My parents taught me to go to church
and to love God along with my abc's. I believe that I made my earliest
confession of Salvation at the age of 6. My dad was the Pastor and I
was one of the Church's Musicians at around 12years old. Of course as
children grow up and leave home they, like me, try to pretend as if
they are just like everybody else and try to act and participate in the
things that everyone else is doing. I left Montgomery in 1974 after
graduation, moved to New York City and married a young lady from
Harlem. We subsequently divorced after 8 years and the Lord gave me
custody of my five sons from that marriage. Even though I didn't act
like I was saved then, I had sense enough to know that the Lord was
watching over me and I still attended Church. Q. Where is your home Church? Who is your Pastor and how long have you been a member there? A.
We are presently serving at Living Faith Tabernacle Ministries here in
Montgomery. We felt the unction of the Holy Spirit and followed His
lead to this Ministry. Of course we had a conference with our then
Pastor and received her blessings. We have been at Living Faith for a
year an a half, now. Our Pastor is Rev T. Lee, an anointed Woman of God
with a true shepherd's heart. Q. What do you feel is the Spiritual impact of your music? A.
I feel that I have to just play and let the Spirit do the impacting. I
have been told, "...Brother Ray, you sho do let the Lord use you...."
and, "...when you play, man, I can feel it!..." ...My thing is, because
I don't have the training that is customary in todays music circles and
because of the way that I learned to play, my mother taught me my first
song on the piano when I was maybe eight years old and stricken with
polio, so I couldn't run and jump outside with the other kids, but I
could sit up at a piano, I MUST rely on the Holy Spirit to do what He
wants to do through my music. Mother doesn't read music either and I
don't know how she learned to play. I believe that God gave it to her
just like she passed it to me. I think that I listen and follow the
Spirit's lead more than some musicians when they are playing in worship
and praise services. I know that some times there are certain songs
that will break a yoke or mend a heart when played or sang at the
precise moment in worship and if we as musicians are attentive to the
move of the Spirit, we can really be comparatively more instrumental
and effective in the flow of the service and be the musicians of
2Chronicles Chapter 20, Leaders of the Army. Q. You play keyboards...any other instruments? A.
I started out wanting to be a drummer, but in the "old line" Holiness
Churches, where I was reared, there were like 8 to 10 drummers and only
my mother and the Bishop's wife that played the piano, so I began to
play piano more than drums, but I do play drums a little... and I try
to play bass guitar. Q. How long have you been playing? And did your experience as a musician begin in the Church? A.
...all of my experiences began in the Church and I mean that literally.
I think that I began playing for my Dad's Church at the age of 10 or
12. We were in Church quite a bit....2 to 3 times on Sundays, every
Wednesday night and every Friday night of every week. ...And there were
those Conventions, State Assemblies, Diocese Assemblies, Youth Nights,
and Revivals. Plenty opportunities to get a little practice in. Back
in those days, I never knew anyone that could read music but everyone
seemed to be able to play any song and play it all night! Q. Let's talk a little about the Group. How many are in it? Who are they, and how long have you all been playing together? A.
I am a member of a local Gospel Group called, "The Sounds of
Salvation". The group has been together for over 10 years but I have
been a part of the group for about 8 years. There were 12 of us at one
time. We had a horn section, two keyboard players a lead and a rhythm
guitar player, a bass player, and a drummer. During those years we
ministered on the TBN television network and we were given the
experience of playing on the Bobby Jones' Gospel, New Artist Showcase.
Now there are 5 of us, one keyboard player, me, and an awesome drummer,
Corey who is the son of Larry, our manager. Before then I had a choir at my Dad's Church and Dad joined a local Gospel Singer's Union. The choir went to sing at another member's Anniversary program and a lady heard me play and asked me to consider playing for her group. I began playing for the Choralettes of Montgomery and then, the Mighty, Mighty Travelers of Burkesville, The Sweet Sounding Singing Tornadoes of Wetumpka, the McCall Singers and a host of local Churches and Choirs over the years in the 1980s. Now it's the "Sounds", and my Church Choir, Living Faith Tabernacle Voices of Praise...although I am trying to help a very new group called New Vision when I can.... The music that you hear is mostly just me on a keyboard. I played and recorded it and played back with the recording, and recorded that. The drum sequence is the keyboard. My bass player and one of our guitar players played with me on a couple of songs but it is mainly just me on keyboards. These are a few of the songs that God gave me years ago and when I began to play with the "Sounds of Salvation", they gave me the opportunity to put some of my original music on a CD, so at the studio one day I began to play and the manager at that time, Henry began to record it. That is what you are listening to.... no mixing, no mastering, no editing, just me playing into a recorder with a drum machine. Q. I
noted on your profile that you travel quite a bit. Is that usually for
the sake of the Group, or family? Tell us a little about some of the
places you've seen and your experiences there. A.
My Bride and I love to travel and one of my favorite places in the
world is the Great Smoky Mountains. We have vacationed there countless
numbers of times. One time, I wanted to buy a chateau there but
visiting will have to do for a while, besides, my wife wants us to
visit other places on vacation. I lived on Staten Island in another
life, worked in Brooklyn and went to Church in Jersey City. I have two
sons in the Washington, DC area and we have driven there. My younger
brother, the Bishop lived in Miami at one time and we would go down
there in the summer during the fourth of July. I have a son and a
sister and brother, (I don't use the in-law part), in the Atlanta area
and we still visit them from time to time. More recently, we were in
Columbus, Ohio where one of my sons got married to a beautiful young
lady on Valentine's Day. The same day of my parents wedding. I have traveled quite a bit with various groups and choirs over the years, primarily in the Southeastern US... Great experiences, great memories, and a few good photos. Q. Is the Group touring now? Or do you have plans to do so? A.
No, we are not touring now and I don't see it in the near future. I
believe that my focus should be on the ministry at my local church more
so now and really helping to grow that Ministry. It is a relatively new
ministry with a lot of young people and young married couples, a young
Pastor..... actually I think that at 52 years old, I am probably one of
the oldest, if not THE oldest member there! I know that the Father
called us to that ministry and if I keep my priorities straight, He
will let me play with the groups from time to time, but the Church is
first. All of us in the groups are members of different Churches here
in Montgomery and when there are no conflicts with other services, we
get together and LIFT HIM UP! Q. Do you spend a lot of time away from home? A.
When I'm away from home, usually my bride is away with me. We travel
with the Church mostly, singing with the Choir and worshipping with
"Sister Churches" in the area. my days of traveling with the group are
minimal. We went to Pontotock, Mississippi once. I think that was the
longest trip I have made with the Group. The Group has been to Houston,
Texas but I couldn't make that trip with them because of my committment
to my local Church. Q. I understand that there is a certain Event coming up...care to share with our readers what that's about? A.
On the 5th Sunday in March, we are having an evening of singing and
shouting at our Church, Living Faith Tabernacle. The Pastor asked us to
do our part in Kingdom building and one thing that I can do is invite
Soloists and Groups out to worship together with us, so we are having
some of the Groups that I have worked with in the past to come to our
new place of worship and help us lift up the name of Jesus. I like to
call it a BUILDING FUND PROGRAM. The building being the "Body of
Christ". Q. Your
music style is quite unique Brother Jackson. While I listened to it I
found myself relaxing and wanting to just sit and enjoy it. I also
noted a touch of the 'Old School' sound, from a time when the old
spirituals used to really get the Service in Church going. I really
enjoyed "AT and T", "Resting Easy" and "You're the One". Tell us a
little about what inspired you to put together this kind of collection.
Is this something new, or have you always done music like this? Would
you say it's a result of what you listened to or experienced growing up? A.
I truly believe that we are products of our environment and
experiences, naturally and spiritually. The songs come to me usually
when I'm out fishing alone and just thinking about the Lord's Goodness
in my life through the years. The idea behind ATandT is when you call
on Jesus, you won't get a busy signal or a "temporarily disconnected"
message. Resting Easy comes from the scripture, " Come unto me, all ye
that labor..." and "You're The One" is a collaboration with an old
friend that wrote words and I put music to it and wrote more words.
It's just the way that I play and it's how the words come to me. If I
could do it another way, I probably would but I think that I'm doing it
like the Lord has gifted me to do it. I really can't do it any other
way. Q. What is the name of your album, and where does it stand now? Is it ready for release? And if so, where can it be purchased? A.
The name of my Album, when it is released will be called You're the
One. The only copy is in a CD case at home with my picture on it and it
is the copy that the manager, Henry gave me when he recorded me at his
studio over 4 years ago. Q. I
genuinely hope it doesn't stay that way for long! In the meanwhile, I
like for my readers to be able to hear this sweet music...please give
us your web address, and any others you'd care to have our readers know
about. A.
My son set up for me, a "myspace" page on the second of November last
year, and now I have been blessed with over 500 friends. it is,
myspace.com/rayvjackson. My email address is jacksongs4u@yahoo.com. Q. What (and who) do you listen to when you aren't writing or playing your own songs? A.
I love Commissioned, John P Kee, Hezekiah Walker, just to name a few
and I am trying to learn to play some of their music for my Choir. IN HIS OWN WORDS: Is there something more you'd like to share with us today Brother Jackson? Yes... I would like to say, ALWAYS think of another person's wants and desires above your own. Always be ready to give a compliment, add COMPASSION to your vocabulary and ALWAYS treat women like royalty! February 17 INTERVIEW: MINISTRY OF THE SHEEP INTERNATIONAL CIRCLE OF LIGHT MINISTRIES - (("For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."Ephesians 4:12 )) CHRISTIAN WEB COMMUNITY NEWS-JOURNAL FOR ONE GOD. ONE CHRIST. ONE BODY WEEK OF DECEMBER 7, 2OO8 http://jointhecircle.community.officelive.com/MAILING.aspx OUT OF THE PEWS AND INTO THE COMMUNITY MISSION ON THE MOVE In keeping with our theme this season of bringing you infomation about how we can help make this world a better place through simple Acts of Kindness, we have been bringing you information on those Missions and Ministries who are truly going forth in the Lord. Not only carrying the Good News, but letting their Light Shine so that He may be brought into the homes, and hearts , of those who most need to know that He is there even in the worst of times. My friends, I have been blessed to meet this week a truly exceptional soul who is part of an exceptional Mission, one I am both pleased and honored t o have "Inside the Circle"! Who they are: Ministry of The Sheep International LEADERS I'm speaking with...Brother Dennis Mixer Q. Can you name for us the Leaders involved in your Mission? A. As this is a new ministry in the making, we do not have all the leaders in place. At present I am president, My older Brother, Reverend Ronald Mixer has agreed to be on the Board. Ron has been in the ministry for 30 years and is Pastor of Triumphant Life Church, with two campuses, one in Lonsdale, MN, and the other in Farbault, MN. I have asked two others to be on the board, and, true to their Christian nature, are in prayer, seeking God's guidance. Q. Are there Affiliate Ministries/Missions you would like to mention or share with our readers? A. Impact Ministries International What they're doing: Q. Tell us a little about how this Mission got started? And what and where it's primary focus is now. Who are you striving to reach, and by what means? A. When I returned to the United States, after working with orphans in Honduras for 6 months, I was asked to go to Uganda to get a farm, owned by Impact Ministries International, up and running. While I was in prayer about this I told God that I couldn't believe that, with the love he has given me for people, and the knowledge and understanding of their needs, (emotional, physical and spiritual) that he would=2 0send me just to work on a farm. He very clearly told me 'You go to Uganda and I'll show you the needs.' It was at that time I knew that I was to start a new ministry. The ministry name came after a night of prayer. I had been praying about it and had thought of calling it true fasting ministries, based on Isaiah 58. when I awoke the next morning my first thought was "NO, Ministry of the Sheep" based on Matthew 25:31-46. The first focus will be sharing Jesus and feeding widows and orphans. From there, as God provides, my vision is to build orphanages, medical clinics and to plant churches in third world countries. Where they're working; Q. You've mentioned that you recently worked in the Honduras. Can you tell us something about what that was like? Give us the Praise report...how the people there responded, some of what you saw. A. In Honduras I worked primarily with kids in an orphanage. After spending my adult life working with people (I was a police officer and Emergency medical technician for 20 yrs.), I can honestly say that I have never had a more fulfilling experience. The kids are so starved for love, and, being able to show them God's love was so rewarding. Most of these kids were not actually orphaned, they were kids who's parents just didn't want or couldn't take care of them anymore. As I don't speak Spanish and could see their hurt and pains I oft en asked God why he had me there. The only answer I got was 'To show them Love.' I got to see the results of showing God's love in two brothers. They are the oldest of 5 siblings that came to us. Manuel, the oldest is 10, Moises is 9. The father had the kids on the streets begging so he didn't have to work, and beat them if they didn't bring enough money in. The mother is 23 (YES 23). after 11 years of abuse the mother left her husband but couldn't care for the kids. The kids were wild, had never been to school, and didn't even know the colors. One Sunday Moises was the only one of the siblings that was at church with us. His father showed up at the door, but left when he saw me. 9 yr old Moises sat in a crouched position, sucking his thumb, dis-associated, for 1 ½ hours. I bought him some cheetos and a coke, thinking that would help him, but it didn't. When he finally came around he shared his Cheetos with the other kids. When he came to us he would have hit any kid that asked for his food. One day I was taking pictures of siblings for the ministry. After all the siblings photos were taken Manuel wanted me to take a picture of him, 2 yr old Jr. who is an only child and Johnny, another 2yr old. I tried to explain that these were just for siblings. Manuel got upset, went and got another of the kids, who spoke some English, and had them tell me that, as long as HE was there Jr had a brother. So I took a picture of Manuel and his brothers Johnny and Jr. He then had it conveyed to me that I can't show pictures of the siblings without showing that one. You can discipline a child to make him behave. It's God's love that changes their hearts Q. Are there particular issues there which stood out for you? A. Yes. There are an estimated 10,000 orphaned and abandoned kids, living on the streets, in Honduras. At the city landfill, just outside of Comayagua, I have counted as many as 21 kids, digging through the trash, looking for food. Q. What's on the agenda next for this incredible Outreach effort? A. To get the farm in Uganda producing food to feed the people there. The next step is to start an orphanage near the farm as the majority of ministries are focused on the problems in the larger cities. Where to find them; Q. Does your Ministry have a physical address? And please give us the URLs of your websites and any others you would like us to know about. A. The address is 5706 Troy Dr. Mounds View, MN 55112. We are working on a web site now, but, email can be sent to delmix61@aol.com , or find me on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/dennismixer , or facebook at http://www.facebook.com/friends/?ref=tn#/profile.php?id=1370336667&ref=profile How you can help; Q. Please tell our readers ways in which they might be of help? A. First and foremost: Pray, pray that God continues to lead and guide me. Pray to see if God leads you to help support the ministry in forming. It will cost about $5,000 to get the legal paperwork done and I will need about $10,000 cash and $500-$1,000 pledged per month to begin a ministry in Uganda. Keep in touch with me. If you send an email to me I will add you to my address book and send updates. If you're on MySpace or Facebook, send a friends request. As the ministry develops there will be updates and changes to the sites. In his own words Q. Is there anything further you would like to share with our readers? A. Everybody has been given a gift from God. Some have the gift of speech, to captivate the listener. Some have the gift of compassion, to visit those who are hurting, to take a dish to some one who's in need. Some can mentor a young person, to give them the role-model they lack in their lives. Everyone can do something. WHAT IS YOUR CALLING? Don't waste it on nonsense. FINAL NOTE: Brother Mixer, again, I thank God for his providence in bringing this incredible effort to our attention. And I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet with you and hear of what you're doing. Please, as your Ministry grows and goes forward, do not hesitate to reach out to us here. You are always welcome "Inside the Circle"! God Bless you and may He continue to hold and keep you as you continue to go forth in His name. We are grateful to have you 'Inside the Circle'! INTERVIEW - AUTHOR/PASTOR D.L. FosterCIRCLE OF LIGHT MINISTRIES - (("For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."Ephesians 4:12 ))NEWS-JOURNAL FOR ONE GOD. ONE CHRIST. ONE BODY WEEK OF NOVEMBER 23, 2OO8http://jointhecircle.community.officelive.com/MAILING.aspx OUT OF THE PEWS AND INTO THE COMMUNITYSPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW We have a true treat this week, Dear Readers. Today, Meet A Pastor, Preacher, Author, and true Man of God. Now as you know by now, your Editor prefers to let the Good News speak for itself, so without further delay, let's meet and greet our very special guest! WHO HE IS Reverend D.L. Foster. www.gcmwatch.com www.witnessfortheworld.orgThe Word tells us who would take up the call to go forth and Preach, exhort, rebuke, and speak Truth, and certainly I introduce one to you here who is 'not afraid of their faces'! Q. Where are you from? A. Im from a small town in Central Texas called Marlin. Its about 20 minutes south of Waco. I grew up there and graduated high school there (yea class of 80!).
Q. We know that you are married, can you tell us a little about your wife? A. My wife Dee is such a treasure. She's a North Carolina native and we met during our time in military service. She's not only incredibly beautiful but smart and a woman who loves God more than anything. She's currently a hard-working HR mgr for the Regional office of the Federal Transit. We've been loving each other together in marriage for 16 years.
Q. Do you have children? A. Yes, I am a proud daddy. I have three sons: Philip, Charles and DJ (Darrell Jr) and a daughter Trinity. I also raised my wife's first child Brittanie since age 3. She's now grown and married herself.
Q. I note in one of your Bios that you enjoy wide variety of music, do you play an instrument or sing? A. Yes, I enjoy music that's heavy on message and the instumentals are captivating. I try to play. I do enjoy making my own songs and singing them! I play organ and keyboards although I consider myself low on the talent totem pole.
Q. Care to tell us what D.L. stands for? (EDITOR'S NOTE, PASTOR..THIS IS OPTIONAL! A. DL are the initials of my first and middle names. Darryl L. Foster. When I began writing and speaking publicly more, I shortened it to DL long before the negative connotations came about.
Q. You've written a book, "Touching a Dead Man". Can you tell us something about it? Why this particular title, what inspired it, how long did it take to write, who was your target audience, and whether you feel it's reaching them? A. Touching a Dead Man is my semi-autobiography which details my life and death struggle with homosexuality and my identity. It is a teaching book which shows the Body of Christ the power of God to deliver and transfrom human life...even if "death" has laid claim on you. Its styled after the biblical Lazarus and follows an outline of his miraculous story which Jesus declared was "for the glory of God".
Q. Where is it available for purchase? Can we find it online, and what is the average cost? A. It is available online as an ebook for 16.95. The website is www.touchingadeadman.com
Q. Is this the only book you've written? A. Its the only published book Ive written. I guess if I published all the materials Ive written, it would be 5-6 books. Ive also written a discipleship manual called the LifeLines Discipleship Manual
Q. How long have you been a Pastor? A. I have been pastoring 8 years.
Q. Where were you Ordained? A. I was liscensed in the COGIC in 1992 and ordained in the United COGIC in 2001 under Bishop Aaron Lackey, Sr.
Q. Has your perspective of the Church and the people in it changed since you first became a Pastor? And if so, how? A. Yes, in many respects probably too numerous to chronicle here. But I have learned that the church is in the throes of change and it is not good. I've learned that there truly are only a few (a remnant) who embrace God's truth without compromise. Ive also noticed that this generation of people have been cultivated to be self-centered and me-conscious which accounts for so much division in the church and lack of discipline in the things of God. Its a serious task to challenge people to abandon what makes them feel secure and totally trust the Lord Jesus. WHERE THE MINSTRY IS WORKING
Q. What is the name of your physical Church? A. Praise Power Minstries aka Restoration Sanctuary
Q. Tell us about your Ministry. A. Im much more well known for my ministry Witness than for my local church. We love all people and we are committed to sharing God's truth without respect of persons. We have had our share of ups and downs like any church but yet believing God is with the small church just as powerfully as he is with the "mega" churches. Our outreach ministry, Witness is the most well known of its kind in the country. We have been in continuous operation since 1996 and on a daily basis we pray, encourage, correct, advise, strengthen and love men and women who are striving to live holy and want to honor God with their bodies and spirits.
Q. Where is it Located? A. Jonesboro, Ga in south metro Atlanta
Q. Is this the only place you're working right now? A. physically, yes.
WHAT THEY ARE DOING Q. Do you have any special projects happening right now? A. We are working diligently on our 30 year anniversary for our jurisdiction (GA NE UCOGIC) where I serve in several planning capacities. We are also planning a special discipleship retreat in November 2009 for men and women who have come out of homosexuality. We also have a weekly discipleship gathering called The System.
Q. What about inside your Church itself, any Special dates, Musicals, Celebrations, or Programs upcoming? A. No, no special programs are planned.
Q. Are there plans (visions) to expand your reach? A. Thats really up to the Lord. We are living a "manna-principle". We will go and do as the Lord gives instruction and provision. Of course, there is a passion in my heart to do greater works that will reach and bring in a greater harvest into the Kingdom, but our dependence is on the leading of God.
Q. Do you have any affiliate Ministries you are working with that you would like others to know about? A. Yes, Pastor Carla Royster of Blessed Redeemer [ www.blessedredeemer.org] Ministries in NJ and all of the churches of UCOGIC. You can find them at www.ucogic.com
WHERE TO FIND THEM Q. Please give us the links to where to find you on the Web. A. If someone wants to attend bible study or Sunday worship, they can google 7595 Sunstone Drive, Jonesboro, GA 30236
Q. Is there a P.O. Box for correspondences?
A. Q. Any literature or recordings available for order besides the Book? A. There are youtube videos. Just search "gcmwatch" on youtube.HOW YOU CAN HELP Q. We know that all Ministries are ever in need of support of all kinds; is there a particular area in which you feel our readers could be of help? A. Yes, they can tell their friends who struggle with homosexuality about us. They can ask their pastors to bring me in to help educate the church through our Healthy Church, Strong Church program. They can also share with us a love offering which are needed to help advance the ministry.
A FEW MORE THINGS.... Q. Pastor Fostor, you have a particular message for others called to carry the Word of God, could you elaborate a bit on that? A. Preach the word (and the word only) be instant in season and out of season. We are "out of season" now and it is tempting to sway and color the message to appease the flesh of people. But bearers of the Word have an obligation to be true to our King because he will require of us when he returns. We are in the midst of a great falling away from the gospel (but not the church) thus, the people will not endure or tolerate sound doctrine. Yet, if we act like Aaron and give the people what they want, God will destroy our works in the fire.
Q. Is there anything else you would care to share with our readers today? A. Just a note for those who are not familiar with my writing ministry particularly Gay Christian Movement Watch. It is not an attack on people, but against false ideas, doctrines and movements which are destructive to the spiritual health of the church.
FINAL NOTE: We simply want to again thank you, Pastor Foster, for taking the time to sit a moment with us today. And thank God for you. May He continue to use you to be such a Blessing to others, and it's our prayer that you continue to go forth, reach out, and be properous according to His Will. (Editor's note...Circle of Light Ministries and it's affiliates are not fund-raising
institutions. If you are moved to support any of the Missions featured in these articles,

OUT OF THE PEWS AND INTO THE COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT MISSIONWe all know it, and yet, unless it affects us directly, we seldom talk about...or even think about it. And yet all across America there are families being torn apart. There are children growing up without their parents, parents who have barely had the first eighteen years of their childrens' lives to enjoy them before they are taken away. There are sons and daughters wishing with all their hearts that they could be home. Moreover, there are people, people like you and I, who have made choices for which they'll be regretful for the rest of their lives, for they are the reason for the state of these families. Who is your writer describing here? Those of our brothers and sisters currently residing in prison. Sure, it's a simple matter to toss aside sympathy for them, to chalk up their situation as being brought on by their own actions. And yet we've each as easily experienced at least one moment in our own lives - that one instant of decision when we might have reacted in another way. There but by the grace of God.... And of course there are those among us who KNOW what it feels like on a personal level. And again, what about the families? What about the children on the outside who suffer because of this? And here's the deeper question...we know that God is a forgiving God...but do hard-core crimminal REALLY convert? Can they truly be reached by ministering and preaching the Word to them? The Apostle Paul gives us an excellent insight into his time in prison (and he spent nearly as much of it there than actually on the mission road) and also lets us know that being behind bars did not mean a loss of FREEDOM. The Spirit of God can not be caged, and he who is set free in Jesus is not bound by man, no matter where he resides. Here then, dear readers, I introduce to you the leader of a tremendous movement. Since there were jails there have been people who minister to the incarcerated - and yet this particular one is doing something more than that! Let's hear it from them; Who they are: CROSS CONNECTIONS MINISTRIESQ. Who Founded this Ministry? Q. What inspired it? A. Cross Connection Ministries was originated in 1999 as an educational outreach ministry with the mission to equip the saints to do the work of ministry. This included facilitating workshops and other presentations and small groups. In 2004 God shifted the vision to focus on equipping men and women who have been incarcerated to live a Spirit-led productive lifestyle upon release from prison. Can I be transparent? I had my own personal bout with addiction and criminal activity. Not too many people really know about that part of my life. I was in college and later in the military during most of it. God healed me from my addictions and had mercy on me that I never went to prison, however, it wasn't really until I began my work in Trenton that I recalled just how blessed I was. After working in a community correction facility I noticed that there were no viable support systems for women The burden became so great that I had to be like David and say, "For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me." Soon I was searching scripture, studying and writing this vision down like a mad woman. God also blessed me to return to college where I am pursuing my Bachelors in Organizational Mangaement w/a concentration in Psychology, afterwhich I will attend Liberty Univeristy for a Masters in Professional Counseling and later a Doctorate. Q. How many are active in it today? A. Today we are mentoring both men and women and have referrals from such programs as Volunteers of America and Prison Fellowship. We have two small groups: one for men called, The Wall and one for women called, The Well. The number shifts week to week, but on average we have 5 to 20 in a session. This is not including our regular mentoring that I personally do.Besides myself, the LORD brought three indivuals who volunteer as an advisor/adminsitrator, financial advisor/accountant and the other serves in clerical. Something which intrigues me...you have an endearing nickname, what is it? Most of my mentees and clients call me Momdukes But sometimes I'm called Moms or Elder B.Why are you called that? Momdukes is a name that I received when mentoring young people, most of which were my children's friends. I was the community mother, church mother and school mother. It's funny to hear those older than I try to call me Momdukes. It really doesn't fit like that but if they don't mind, I don't mind. Elder B. came about recently after being ordained as an Elder in 2006. One of the youth that adopted me just started saying it around the house one day. He didn't like how someone stepped to me so he was like, "Yo, you talking to Elder B. Yeah, that's Elder B. You betta check it." All I could do was laugh. (Thanks Josh)Where they're working; Q. Where is Cross Connections Based?A. CCM is based in Southern NJ. We physically serve clients in Gloucester and Camden Counties.Q. Is this the only place you're working right now? A. No, we also have an online counseling and teaching ministry on PalTalk and Yahoo! Unfortunately I'm not online as much as I'd like due to "technical difficulties". Our computer went out, so now we wait for the finances for newer equipment that will handle the needs. Nevertheless, we receive emails, referrals and phone calls on a regular basis.Q. Are there plans (or a vision) to expand your reach? Definitely. God commanded us as Christians to reach Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria and the uttermost part of the earth. So, via Internet and doing workshops and other engagements locally and nationally, we plan to reach as many as we are graced to reach for the kingdom. We should have our 501 (c) 3 soon. THis will allow us to engage in programs on the Federal and State levels. Locally we plan to purchase real estate to house individuals while they are in the transition process. Many leave prison without a place to live, let alone the emotional and financial support to begin their new lives. The transitional program will be in three phases and will facilitate the development of personal skills needed to sustain a productive lifestyle full of healing and confidence that they "can do all things through Christ'" that strengthens them. What they're doing; Can you tell us something about what your Ministry is doing, what your focus group is, and in what way you hope to have an impact on the lives of those you reach? Our focus group are those who say are nobodies, namely those who have been incarcerated and are returning to the community. We not only minister to them but to their families and other loved ones who are connected to the individual receiving our services. I have found that parents or siblings are left taking care of children of prisoners are an untapped ministry. They are in transition also, so we work with other organizations to assist in providing the spiritual and emotional resources needed to sustain a positive outlook. We also partner with other faith- and community-based organizations in providing other resources such as job search and financial assistance.Impact an individual, you impact a family. Impact a family and you impact a community. This is what we desire to do. Impact individuals through the cross of Jesus Christ. Criminal thinking and that lifestyle does nothing but steal, kill and destroy. The goal is to take the gospel of Jesus Christ and show each person that they can be free from sin, from addiction(s), from negative thinking, from every weight and sin that keeps them bound. By bringing the gospel along with classical education and experience, we can show them that they can do all things through Christ that strengthens them. We want to see lives healed, families reunited, and communities changed for the better. Our training and development services for ministries will help equip the saints for this work. Prison ministry isn't just limited to the prison. Families and communities are effected and need to see and experience God's love and healing power. Every church needs to have this type of ministry as part of their evangelism and/or outreach ministry. Where to find them; www. crossconnectionministries.net.
Elder Linda's page on Myspace
http://www.myspace.com/momdukes64 Q. Is there another site? Or another affiliation? A. We are connected to Prison Fellowship, American Correctional Association, the International Association of Addiction and Offender Counselors, Restorative Justice Association/Restorative Justice Community and Crossroad Bible Institute. How you can help; Q. What advice would you give to those who feel called to become involved in this sort of Ministry? A. Pray and prepare! This ministry isn't for the faint in heart. You really have to have a heart for this population. So pray and ask God for guidance and hear His voice. Write down everything He gives to you in a notebook or journal. Search the scriptures and allow God to speak to you about this population Seek out a ministry that is already doing this type of work and talk to folks who are involved. Preparation is key. Educate yourself. "Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15Q. For your location(s), are you in need of volunteers? A. Yes! We are looking for administrative as well as service volunteers. Administrative volunteers will work in areas such as clerical and web development. as well as research and development; service volunteers are mentors who are interested in mentoring women. Sorry brothers, but there is a greater need for women right now. Also note that other giftings and anointings are encouraged to contact us. Location isn't an object. We will help others start a prison & reentry program in their perspective locations.I'd like to thank you Elder Linda, for taking the time to grant us this look into such a special Ministry. Each of us, no matter our situation, has a need to know that there are people out there who care. And all of us, no matter where we are, need to know that there is a Savior who is able to set us free on the inside, where nothing can hold us. God is working a wonder through you. May He continue to Bless you and may your territory continue to increase! ZEPHANIAH CHAPTER THREE This chapter is considered to be prophetic, and is a recurring message throughout the Word of God. It is speaking of the time when Christ returns for His people, the Judgement comes, the evil-doers are wiped from the face of the earth and the New Jerusalem is set in place. Then, the Remnant will rejoice in their new dwelling. 3:1-4 Woe to her who is rebellious and defiled, the oppressing city! She listens to no voice; she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the LORD; she does not draw near to her God. Her officials within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves that leave nothing till the morning. Her prophets are fickle, treacherous men; her priests profane what is holy; they do violence to the law. Sorrow is coming to those who have refused to hear, refused to bow and turn away from their wickedness. A description is given of the state of the people...and as this referred to the time just before the Judgement, it's not only speaking to sinful Isreal but to all nations living before the return of Christ. Her princes...leaders...are roaring lions, her judges (those who are supposed to uphold what is right) are evening wolves....these both are predators that seek to devour without mercy any unsuspecting prey, and eat all of what they catch up, leaving nothing. The priests and prophets are not to be trusted, having turned to their own lustful and deceitful desires for fortune and control of the people. (Ref; Isa 41:11-14) 5 - The LORD within her is righteous; he does no injustice; every morning he shows forth his justice; each dawn he does not fail; but the unjust knows no shame. God is as He has always been, righteous, standing ready to forgive, but not hesitating to punish the unjust when it is time. But they are not worried about it. (Ref; Isa 41: 28, 29)
6 - "I have cut off nations; their battlements are in ruins; I have laid waste their streets so that no one walks in them; their cities have been made desolate, without a man, without an inhabitant.
7 - I said, 'Surely you will fear me; you will accept correction. Then your dwelling would not be cut off according to all that I have appointed against you. But all the more they were eager to make all their deeds corrupt. He did this with the thought that this would surely make them see; without His watch, without His presence, they were left out there for their enemies to do with what they wanted.
Now we're talking about Jesus....who will - did - give us a pure language...His name. We believers can serve Him with one accord, because we know that there is no other Way to the Father but through Him. (Ref; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18/ Phillippians 4:9) This verse proves the Messiah message, the "Daughter" spoken of being the Church...the Bride of His Son. She brings the offering of the remnant, those who have prepared themselves for the reaping.
(Ref;
When that day comes, the Church shall know no shame for it will be named perfect, it's sins having been washed away in the Blood. And then God will remove those who laughed and tried to lead others to sinful pride. No longer full of itself but now filled with Holiness, the Church, (Revelation 21:2)
(12) But I will leave in your midst a people humble and lowly.
This transformed people will do no wrong, nor speak with a deceitful tongue any longer. They will live in peace (feed the flock and lie down...something impossible to do then because of a need to watch for predators that would attack sheep and men alike), and they shall no longer fear anything. (Ref; Revelation 3:12/ Gal. 6: 15,16) At that time I will bring you in, at the time when I gather you together; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes," says the LORD." Permission to rejoice, for God through the Person of His Son our Savior will defeat the enemy; so they are not to falter in their work - the LORD God is with them while they wait. He will save. He will be happy with them, will comfort them in sorrow, will quiet them with His love, will be pleased with their songs of praise. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! LET THE WORD GO FORTH! October 24 WHATEVER YOU'RE GOING THROUGH -- STAND ON THE WORD!WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE FAILS 1 Thessalonians 5:9For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 5:10: I CAN GO TO THE ROCK Psalm 18:2The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. "The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he." Luke 21:18: I CAN GO TO THE ROCK For their rock is not as our Rock; our enemies are by themselves. GOD PROMISED, THAT HE WOULD KEEP ME Acts 18:10 John 10:28: IF I ABIDE IN HIS HOLY WORD John 12:26: SO NO MATTER WHAT THE PROBLEM I CAN GO TO THE ROCK1 Corinthians 10:4 "...and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ. Psalm 24 The King of Glory A Psalm of David. Selah Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle! Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah

Psalm 121
Read any newspaper. Turn on any news program, and you don't have any trouble realizing that all over the world today, families are in turmoil. Whether it be from surviving storms - tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding - or dealing with the various troubles present in the places where they live; war-zones, terrorists, government collaspes. Or even just the day to day struggles of gerenal life can seem overwhelming for some. Property threatened with repossessions, finances in total disarray, food prices too high to keep enough on the table. Sons and daughters caught up in situations that were easier to get into than to get out of. Parents little more than children themselves. Elders in need of as much attention and care as children. For even the firmest, most dedicated follower, these times can be severe tests of faith. And for those who have not yet matured in the Lord, the odds against can seem impossible to overcome, and it's difficult not to be discouraged. Looked at from the perspective of the world (flesh) it would be hard to understand why such things are allowed to happen. But through the Spirit we better understand that the troubles are OF THE WORLD...and we are in the way of it. I'll say that again for understanding - it's like standing out in the rain; the water is not targeting you because of a grudge against you...the whole area is getting wet and you're getting wet because you'te standing there rather than go inside to seek shelter. Veiwed from this perspective, we understand that God has not left us 'out there' alone. It is during these very trials and tribulations, storms and floods of trouble, that we must remember that God knows our situation. He has not turned away. He has not gone to sleep on the job. No matter how bad it seems, we have not been abandoned. Trouble comes to EVERYONE who lives here on the earth -- because the earth is cursed for sin's sake. So at times you find yourself caught in the storms that pass over. But, thank God that He has promised to be our help. He is our Shelter, and all we have to do is come inside. Allow Him to wrap us in His protective embrace, and He'll see us through the storms in our lives. No, things may not always be the same after the storm, and it may not always pass over quickly, but it will pass, and what happens afterward we have to place in His hands. It is better, always, to keep trusting Him and having faith in HIS faithfulness, than it would be to face these situations, storms, and trials alone. And for this we can be thankful and rejoice in Him even through the scariest, most trying times, knowing that we have a God who is mightier than anything of this world, able to hold us up, keep us safe, turn away any challenge or give us the strength to stare it down and come out victorious. Stand strong in your Faith Saints, you serve a Mighty God. And He Loves you. So do I. September 13 The fellowship of The Unashamed(The last words of an African martyr) "I am part of the "Fellowship of the Unashamed. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, My pace is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, I will not flinch in the fact of sacrifice, I am a disciple of Christ Jesus. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ…(Romans 1:16).
IN NEED OF PRAYER? WRITE TO:prayerwarrior68@yahoo.com September 10 LET'S TALK ABOUT PRAYER16 Psalm vs 11 "Thou will shew me the path of life; in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore ."John 4:23-24 "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and in truth." Let's talk about Prayer. Or rather, let's talk about talking to God. For a long time. I thought that prayer required that I learn how to talk the way the people in the bible talk...with the 'thees' and 'therefores' and such. I think a lot of people believe this, and from those I've talked to and spoken with, this seems to be something of a deterrent to building a prayerful relationship with God. So...let's discuss language for a moment. The original Old Testament was written in the language of a people whose manner of speaking and communicating with one another was different from the Greek in which the New Testament was written after Jesus returned to be with the Father. This was the reason different disciples were sent to different parts of the community and country-side...because the Jews and the Gentiles had different ways of thnking and speaking and communicating and understanding one another. Thus they needed people to speak to them in a way they could understand. Today's English is derived mostly from the Greek which was used in early Rome and it's outlying areas, and from the Latin which came to be the 'Church' language in early Europe. However, we must keep in mind that today's Bible was translated into what was THEN the 'proper' manner of speaking; a language which bears little resemblance to the way we speak and think today. We don't talk this way anymore...most of us don't even think of these manners of speaking unless we are reading an original version of the KJV. Why do we feel the need to sound like the early English to pray effectively? We speak to our friends in plain language - whatever our language happens to be - and Jesus identified Himself as our Friend John 15:15 "No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I hear from my Father I have made known to you." Of course we are to be humble, and ever acknowlege Him as our Soveriegn, but our Jesus is not interested in who can speak in the most 'proper' language! He Himself told us not to pray in the manner of the hypocrit...with long-winded speech designed to impress man. If you are worried about 'how you sound' how can you be focused on worshiping God in the Spirit realm? The Lord is interested in what is coming through from your heart. And when you speak from the heart you are telling it like it is...not trying to dress it up in pretty words. Yes, there is a certain manner in which you may pray for others or for a group when in a group setting...and that is covered in another Scripture that we will visit at another time. But in your personal life Jesus tells you to go to your 'closet' --- meaning your private place in your Heart, so that you can be lifted into the Spiritual world and thus make the connection which will allow you to HEAR what He wants from you and for your life. Jesus also said that what we ask in His name will be given if we are following this directive, and gave us a 'format' for effective prayer. We call it the 'Lord's Prayer'. So let's take a moment to go through these important Scriptures and determine how we may be able to use this formula in our everyday lives -- with everyday language. *Our Father, who art in Heaven; Hallowed be Thy name. {This is an acknowledgment of God as being our Divine Provider, Protector, and Master.} "Dear God in Heaven." For us this says it all. Dear means beloved, or held up above others. God is Translated from Jehovah, which means Almighty, or All Powerful.*Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, in eartth, as it is in heaven." "i want everything about me to be like you Lord. I want everything about my life to be as you direct. I want to do your will" * Give us this day, our daily bread..."I want to live by your Word Lord. *Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. This is the place to admit your wrongdoing...to confess your misguided judgement of others, and ask for help in letting go of what you feel are the wrongs others have done to you. *And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil Here is where you TALK to Him. Tell Him what is hindering you, tempting you, what you recognize as the tricks of the devil. here is where you seek the strength to overcome those things in your life that are standing in the way of the kind of relationship...fellowship, you want to have with Him. Here is where you unburden your heart, and sharer your life with Him. Also seek His intervention in your life or the lives of others -- healing, deliverance, your 'miracle'. *For Thine is the kingdom, and the Power... "I know you are able to do these and all things Lord And the Glory Praise and thankfulness for His gifts of grace, for His forgiveness through His Son our Savior (In Jesus' name') Amen Now, of course, I am not trying to set a ritualistic format for prayer here. No, instead, I seek only to point out that you can TALK to God, and you don't have to be a Bible scholar, a preacher or deacon...you don't have to learn a 'speech' form. The important thing is that you do it! Just talk to Him, from your heart. Surely you can talk to Him anywhere, at anytime...but make note here that the fullest experience comes when you at least once in a while get off somewhere by yourself, lock out the 'world', lay aside the kids and him and her and them and simply BE with God. In those times He is going to lift you up to a place where you can be in His presence, and as the Scriptures at the top of this page tell us - there is not a better place to be. Thankfully, God understands all languages, because He listens to us, and already know what we need; thus when we speak to Him with a true desire for His will in our lives, our questions will be answered, what we need will be provided, what we want will be granted, and what we ask for is ours to have. We will be nourished, tended, pampered, guided...Favored. God wants to bless us! But we must want to be with Him, and the best way to do that is to pray. May the most High God continue to bless the hearers and the Doers of His Word.
